Currently my setup consumes about 54 mA. So it will consume around 1.3 AH in 24 hours.
Each pump consumes around 1.5 A while running (depending on your pump). Having 2 Pumps with 3 times a day each for 100 seconds adds another 0.25 AH
In total 1.5 AH per day.
It seems that putting the ESP32 in deepsleep mode for most of the time is a good idea. But it has drawbacks.
- Tasmota is not able to react to buttons pressed
- Flora Beacons are not received anymore
- WebUI is not working in deep sleep
- Timers are only executed if Tasmota "hears" the clock ticking.
Think that you put Tasmota to sleep and that it should wake up ever 15 minutes (actually it is at X:00, X:15, X:30 and X:45) You want the first irrigation to happen at 4:00 in the morning.
- Tasmota wakes up at 4:00 and takes about 25 seconds until it is operational.
- At that time it will listen to Flora Beacons which are random. To my experience it will take around 3-4 Minutes until all values are received
- Now you could decide whether to start the pump or not. This means your irrigation timer needs to be at around 4:05
- If your pump is running for 100 seconds the earliest time Tasmota can go asleep again is 4:08, which I could not make possible because Tasmota can stay awake only for a maximum of 5 minutes
- This means Tasmota can sleep for 7 minutes only dropping the power consumption to only 0.7 AH
- And it means that you can change any Tasmota setting only for 8 Minutes every 15 Minutes.
I decided to buy a bigger battery and a bigger solar panel to overcome even times where the sun is not shining bright.
