Since everything appears to be pretty stable, I'm now releasing 1.2.0 into the wild!

Thanks to all the people who made bug reports and helped find issues. There were mountains of bugs fixed.

For the detailed changelog of everything new, you can look at the list for the beta release .

Below is just what's changed since then.

Changelog

  • Added mango trees and pineapple plants
    • Mango trees and pineapple plants can now be found growing in jungles and are a reneweable source of mangoes and pineapples (gasp)
  • Updated chinese and russian translations (thanks to @LingVarr and @Cryghast )
  • Entities enticed by want it need it now have hearts over their eyes
  • Add additional hot air balloon designs (based on submissions by CryGhast)

Earth Ponies

  • Earth Ponies no longer have to jump to engage a stomp. Stomping will cause them to jump automatically instead!
  • Earth Ponies can now buck trees that are in front of them and sneak to switch to kicking behind them. Players with human skins can still only kick forwards.

Commands

  • Added a new gamerule doTimeMagic (default is true)
  • Moved most of unicopia's commands to a singular /unicopia command. They still work like before, but are a little easier to find.
  • The /race command has been renamed to /tribe
  • Added a /unicopia skyangle command for server admins who want to fix messed up skies
  • Players (and ponies) now hold polearms like spears. #172
  • Added a /unicopia config for modifying certain config values directly whilst in-game

Unicopia 1.2.0 BETA for Minecraft 1.20.1

This is a new BETA for the next version of Unicopia for Minecraft 1.20(.1). Since this is a fairly big update I thought I would release it as a beta first so more people have a chance to test it and find any potential issues before I make a proper FULL release to the public.

If you find any issues, please report them so they can be fixed!

Once the beta is over, backports will begin for 1.19.4 and 1.19.3.

Changelog

  • Added palm doors, trapdoors, and boats to round out the rest of the woodset

Magic

  • Improved animations when casting or dispelling spells #151

  • Faithful entities spawned by the necromancy spell can now have a variety of different equipment depending on the skill level of the player casting the spell
  • Entities spawned by the necromancy spell now have a random chance of being "disloyal"
  • Mana regen and consumption is smoother and better tied to your level so gaining a higher mana cap has more obvious benefits
  • Mana bars now animate smoothly
  • The mind swap spell can now be cast using a magic staff
  • Technical entities are no longer affected by magic (also affects Create Mod)
  • Newly-placed crystal hearts will now have 20 health points, and will display their breaking progress on their model
  • Technical spells (changeling shapeshift, rainboom, mind-swap-base-mimic, etc) are no longer visible spells

Spellbook

Unicorns

  • Added an end-game boss battle
  • Added altars
    Altars are a new structure that can be built or found scattered randomly around the desert. Then can be activated by placing a spellbook on the lodestone in the center, and if a player wearing the alicorn amulet were to stand in the soul flame in an active altar, they will take damage and eventually initiate the final boss.

Changelings

  • Changelings can now climb walls and hang from ceiling crawling against them #122
  • Made changeling flying sounds less annoying
  • Changeling transformations are now more compatible with Pehkui #88
  • Changelings disguised as Giraffes Camels can now sit and stand by sneaking, or dash by sprinting

Pegasi

  • Flight has been rebalanced slightly.
    • Updraft is reduced and will now depend on the time of day and will no longer be affected by the biome
    • Gusts of wind are now reduced by levelling up
    • Flying whilst exhausted now deals damage
    • Added an indicator showing the time between wing flap cooldowns. Flapping before this timer is up will result in reduced effectiveness
  • The rainboom ability now requires you to perform tricks to charge them up #107
    • 10 dashes or dives = 1 rainboom, but you can charge up multiple at a time by doing more.
  • Pegasi can no longer pick up special entities

Bats

  • Bat pony screeches are now a charged ability! Hold it down longer to get the full blast.

Earth Ponies

  • Added hot air balloons!
    Pegasi have wings, unicorns have fancy golden trinkets, but what do earth ponies have? That's right, ingenuity!
    You can now craft wooden baskets out of every available wood type. Just place 7 planks in a crafting grid like you're making a tall boat

    • Right-click to place the basket, and use a lead on it to tie it down
    • Craft a giant balloon from 6 carpet and 2 wool (3 carpet on top and bottom, and wool on the left and right)
    • Finally, assemble your hot air balloon by right-clicking a basket with a lantern and a giant balloon, and inflate it with a flint and steel.
      The balloon is a little temperamental, so be careful not to fall out! You can use it to transport mobs or yourself, or use it to pull your (lame ground-bounds) friends along on an adventure with a lead.

    Steering is done by right-clicking one of the corners where the rope connects with the balloon. You can also toggle ascending on and off using a flint and steel on the central burner. When it's off, the balloon will slowly float back to the ground.

    (More balloon designs coming soon: Applications are open if you have any I can steal borrow for the mod!)

  • Rearranged the mod's advancements tree to be less vertical

Beeeeeeeg changelog detailing everything that's changed since 1.0.0! Thanks everyone for filing issues and give their feedback on the mod. This update includes a lot of the changes and suggestions that have been made since the release of 1.0.0, as well as a lot of bug fixes. Not everything has been fixed (i.e. pehkui), but I've tried to get to everything that I could which wouldn't involve a very major change to the mod.

Changelog

Magic

  • Fixed spells breaking bedrock #103

  • Damage is no longer dealt to the player if the consumed mana is zero (or equates to zero hearts consumed)

  • Magic spells are now cancelled when the player no longer has enough mana to sustain them

Earth Ponies

Flight

  • Turbulance is now more forgiving and will only start to ramp up for longer flights
  • Flight is now activated by double-jumping to accommodate players who like to jump whilst sprinting
  • Fix flight interactions with the heavy enchantment not properly making the pegasus heavier/slower
  • Flight controls have been slightly tweaked based on the feedback by @drowsiestpriest #113
    • Pegasi start off without losing any altitude and will gradually start to drop more quickly
    • Flapping now resets your altitude drop
  • Holding space will no longer cause you to gain altitude (you use flapping for that). Instead it will cause you to "glide" effectively reducing your upwards and downwards motion for longer distance coasting.

Game Rules

  • Added weatherEffectsStrength to control how strong turbulence is. Setting it to 0 will disable turbulence entirely

Commands

  • Added /cast to cast spells and test functionality. #102
  • Certain commands that were only available in beta are now available again
  • Adjusted permission levels for some of the cheaty commands

    • Fixed items being deleted when picked up by skeletons
  • Added Consumption

    • Tools enchanted with this effect will consume the drops from mined blocks and will produce XP in its place
  • Added Heartbound

    • Items enchanted with heartbound will stay with the player after they die.
    • Every time you die there is a small chance of the item losing one enchantment level which you can change with the Luck, Unluck, Dolphins' Grace, and Bad Omen status effects
    • Earth Ponies are naturally more lucky

Bat Ponies

  • Bat ponies are now nocturnal and can only sleep during the day. The day will be skipped if all bat ponies on the server are sleeping. #108
  • Added particle effects to bat pony screeches
  • Bat Ponies are now more stealthy #109
  • Mob are less likely to see them in low-light conditions, unless you punch them

Earth Ponies

  • Earth Ponies now have their own dash ability similar to pegasi. Unlike pegasi, they can use this to smash walls.

Pegasi

  • Added an advancement for killing phantoms whilst flying

Flight

  • Turbulance is now more forgiving and will only start to ramp up for longer flights
  • Flight is now activated by double-jumping to accommodate players who like to jump whilst sprinting
  • Fix flight interactions with the heavy enchantment not properly making the pegasus heavier/slower
  • Flight controls have been slightly tweaked based on the feedback by @drowsiestpriest #113
    • Pegasi start off without losing any altitude and will gradually start to drop more quickly
    • Flapping now resets your altitude drop

Game Rules

  • Added weatherEffectsStrength to control how strong turbulence is. Setting it to 0 will disable turbulence entirely

Commands

  • Added /cast to cast spells and test functionality. #102
  • Certain commands that were only available in beta are now available again
  • Adjusted permission levels for some of the cheaty commands

Advancements

  • Added an advancement quest line for playing as an earth pony and farming rocks
