The Recent activity list on a staff player profile was hard to read on a phone: raw ids (short_grass), the full date and TFMC_Map on every row, rows that wrapped differently depending on length, and a separate row for every blade of grass.

What changes

  • Real names. short_grass → Short Grass, the wheat block → Wheat Crops, the item → Wheat. MMOItems/MythicMobs things show their own name with a small tag (ids under Details); renamed items show as “Fang” · Diamond Sword.
  • Grouped by day like Sessions (Today, Yesterday, Tue 7 Oct), with the time in a fixed left column.
  • Every row has the same shape: the action, then Vardera · 4049, 162, 2078 underneath. Nether/End are named; TFMC_Map is shown as the server label.
  • Runs merge: back-to-back placements or breaks of the same block, in the same world and rollback state, within 60 s end to end, become one row (“Broke 3 × Short Grass · 3 places ▾”). This is done client-side across all loaded pages, so paging and the scan limit are unchanged. Nothing else merges.
  • Log-ins and log-outs are quiet marker rows; chat is a quote; commands are monospace; rollbacks are an amber pill that still says what was rolled back.
  • Filters are one sideways-scrolling row on phones (wrap from sm), with a “Showing …” line when filtered.

Names data

Mojang's en_us.json isn't ours to commit to a public repo, so backend/scripts/build_minecraft_names.py runs in the backend image build. It fetches the pinned 1.21.10 client jar, checks its SHA-1 and keeps the plain block/item/entity names (~94 KB) in src/coreprotect/data/minecraft_names.json, which git and Docker ignore. The step only reruns when the script changes. Without the file, ids are tidied instead. Only minecraft: ids are looked up.

API

Additive only: each entry gains target_info (name, source, id, vanilla_name, source_id, custom_name), and activity's coreprotect gains server_label and map_world. target and the SQL, paging, redaction and audit paths are unchanged.

Tests

  • Backend: 105 coreprotect + players tests pass, with new test_names.py and target_info assertions.
  • Frontend: tsc is clean and the full vitest suite passes (1961). New tests cover grouping (span limit, midnight, rollback, kinds, page joins), world names and the profile rendering.
  • Checked at 390 px and 320 px against a mock API: no sideways overflow.

Plan reviewed with Astra (GPT-6-Astra) before building.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Activity rows now show real Minecraft names ("Short Grass", "Wheat Crops")
instead of ids, custom items by their own name with an MMOItems or
MythicMobs tag, and renamed items as “Name” · Diamond Sword. The list is
grouped by day like Sessions, each row has the time in its own column and
the place on a second line as "Vardera · x, y, z", and back-to-back changes
to the same block within a minute share one row that opens to show each.
Filters sit on one row that scrolls sideways on a phone, chat is quoted and
commands are monospace.

The vanilla names come from Mojang's en_us.json, which is not ours to
commit to a public repository, so the backend image fetches the pinned
1.21.10 client jar, checks its SHA-1 and keeps a trimmed copy. Responses
gain an additive target_info and the world's label; target is unchanged.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Player profiles now include a paginated activity feed with filters, expandable event details, and activity grouped by day.
    • Activity entries show clearer names for blocks, items, entities and players, along with relevant custom names, locations and world labels.
    • Recognised channel chat appears with channel labels; channel inference is shown where applicable.
    • Consecutive block changes can appear as a single activity entry.
    • Player profile sections are accessible through tabs, with the selected tab reflected in the page address.
  • Bug Fixes
    • CoreProtect status now includes server and map-world labels, including when activity data is unavailable or empty.

Walkthrough

The change adds generated vanilla Minecraft names and structured data to CoreProtect activity responses, including target, world, and chat-channel details. Player profiles now use tab navigation and display paginated activity with filters, local-day grouping, and expandable target and location details.

Layer / File(s) Summary
Generate and resolve vanilla names
.dockerignore, .gitignore, backend/Dockerfile, backend/scripts/build_minecraft_names.py, backend/src/coreprotect/names.py, backend/src/coreprotect/test_names.py
The Docker build generates a sorted names table from a pinned Minecraft client jar after verifying its SHA-1. The resolver uses the table for vanilla IDs and falls back to tidied IDs when no name is available.
Add activity targets, world metadata, and channels
backend/src/auth/players.py, backend/src/auth/test_players.py, backend/src/coreprotect/activity.py, backend/src/coreprotect/metadata.py, backend/src/coreprotect/test_activity.py, backend/src/coreprotect/test_metadata.py, backend/src/coreprotect/README.md
Activity entries include structured target details and channel data. Channel commands are returned as chat for admins, while moderators do not receive message text. Plain-chat channels are inferred from login and switch history, with a 5,000-command scan limit. Activity status includes the server label and map world.
Define activity types and grouping
frontend/lib/admin/api.ts, frontend/lib/admin/sessionDays.ts, frontend/lib/admin/activity.ts, frontend/lib/admin/activity.test.ts
Frontend types describe target, channel, and world metadata. Utilities resolve names, group consecutive matching block changes within 60 seconds on the same local day, and group rows by day.
Render activity and navigate player tabs
frontend/app/components/admin/PlayerActivity.tsx, frontend/app/components/admin/PlayerProfile.tsx, frontend/app/components/admin/PlayerTabs.tsx, frontend/app/components/admin/profileParts.tsx, frontend/app/components/admin/PlayerProfile.test.tsx, frontend/app/components/admin/MovementCard.tsx, frontend/app/admin/players/[uuid]/page.tsx, frontend/app/admin/players/[uuid]/movement/page.tsx, frontend/app/internal/globals.css
The profile uses tab navigation and a separate activity component with filters, pagination, retry controls, grouped rows, and expandable details. The movement page includes the shared tabs. The profile page wraps its content in a Suspense boundary.

Short filtered lists can leave blank space, and chat-heavy activity pages may become unavailable. Both should be addressed, but the established risk is bounded.

RPCharacters channel chat sent by command (/looc, /fooc, /gooc, /ooc,
/me, /shout…) is now chat for admins: tagged with its channel in the
in-game colour, under the Chat filter, and audited like chat. Moderators
still get only the command word, shown as "Spoke in LOOC". Chat rows are
one line of text instead of "Said" over a quote.

The site-wide themed scrollbar rule is unlayered, so it beat the Tailwind
utility meant to hide the filter strip's bar on iOS; a plain .scroll-strip
class in globals.css does it now, and the strip no longer runs past the
panel's edge.

RPCharacters keeps the channel chosen with /channel in memory until the
player quits, and CoreProtect logs both the switches and the logins, so a
plain chat line's channel is the last valid switch since that login, or
RP. Only the final page's chat lines are looked up (about 3 ms for 20 on
Main); a switch more than 5,000 commands back, or a line with no login
before it, stays unknown.

The profile is now Activity, Sessions, Movement, Characters and Discord
tabs under the player's header, in ?tab= so a link or reload keeps it.
Tabs stay mounted once opened, so going back keeps loaded pages and
filters; Sessions are not fetched until opened. Movement is its own page
and shows the same tabs; the old Movement card is gone.

Tapping a filter emptied the list at the bottom of the page, so the page
shrank and the browser pulled it up under the finger. The list now keeps
the height the screen below the filters was showing.

A full page of plain chat could run up to three CoreProtect reads per
line inside the request's 1.5 s budget. Logins are now read once per
player, and the session's switches once per session; each line takes the
newest switch at or before it.
