What

Custom armour now renders through vanilla equipment assets, so it shows correctly for players using shader packs (Iris, OptiFine).

ItemsAdder draws custom armour with a core shader keyed on the leather colour. Shader packs replace that shader, so those players saw plain dyed leather. TLibs now:

  • reads every ItemsAdder armors_rendering entry and builds a matching equipment model and textures (tfmc_equipment namespace);
  • adds them to the pack on every ItemsAdder pack build (ItemsAdderPackCompressedEvent.setEntry), so there is no ItemsAdder config change and no folder the server must write;
  • sets the equippable asset on worn leather of that colour: on join, on armour change, on armour stands, on entity load, and after each pack build;
  • only uses assets the served pack contains. It reads generated.zip's central directory on startup, so before the first iazip everything looks exactly as today.

ItemsAdder item definitions are never touched, so this can't trigger the ItemsAdder item rebuild that wiped skinned armour on 2026-10-03. Only the equippable component changes; MMOItems and ItemsAdder data stay as they are. Recolouring a piece or setting equipment-assets.enabled: false points it back at leather.

New: /tlibs equipment [refresh] and the equipment-assets config section.

Review notes

  • A player who declines the resource pack sees worn custom armour as invisible instead of dyed leather, since the asset is missing for them.
  • resyncAll walks every loaded living entity, but it only runs once per pack build.
  • Some plugins copy items through Bukkit serialization, which drops the leather equip sound. Our own asset is therefore always rebuilt on the leather defaults.

Testing

  • mvn clean verify: 156 tests pass, with 100% line coverage.
  • TFMCDev01 with mineflayer bots:
    • 137, then 152, armour sets are injected and served (411, then 456, pack entries; pixels identical to the sources).
    • A real skinned MMOItems piece from a backup and a plain ItemsAdder bronze piece get the right asset when worn. All other data is unchanged across iareload, iazip and rejoin. Recolouring reverts to leather. Armour stands are covered.
    • The 15 new base-metal armour sets from the ServerAssets/AdvancedCrafting PRs get their assets (120/120 checks).
  • Not checked yet: a real client with and without a shader pack.

Not released. Dev only for now.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • ItemsAdder custom armour is added to resource packs as vanilla equipment models, supporting display with shader packs such as Iris and OptiFine.
    • Custom-coloured leather armour can use matching generated equipment assets. Equipment updates as players and entities equip armour.
    • Added an equipment refresh command to refresh assets and synchronise equipment.
  • Configuration
    • Added settings to enable equipment assets and configure their namespace, pack paths and resynchronisation delay.
  • Bug Fixes
    • Cosmetic helmet appearance handling now clears an incompatible equipment model.

Walkthrough

The change adds resource-pack equipment asset generation from ItemsAdder armour definitions. It tracks published assets and synchronises matching equipment through plugin events and commands. Cosmetic helmet repair also clears non-null equippable models.

ItemsAdder draws custom armour with a core shader keyed on the leather
colour, and shader packs (Iris, OptiFine) replace that shader, so players
using them see plain dyed leather.

TLibs now reads every ItemsAdder armors_rendering entry, adds a matching
equipment model and textures to the pack on each ItemsAdder pack build,
and points worn leather of that colour at the model. Items only get an
asset that the served pack contains, ItemsAdder item definitions are never
changed (so ItemsAdder never rebuilds anyone's items), and only the
equippable component is touched. Disabling the feature or recolouring a
piece points it back at leather.

A worn leather piece gets an equippable asset for its custom armour. When an
ArmourShop helmet skin then turns it into a carved-pumpkin model,
CosmeticHelmetFix edited that same equippable, so the old armour layer was
still drawn under the model (seen on TFMCDev01 with a Thalendorian helmet
skinned as Roslyn's Eyepatch; pieces never worn before skinning were fine).

CosmeticHelmetFix now clears the asset of model helmets, and
EquipmentAssetSync removes an asset of ours from any item that is no longer
leather.

…oad resync

- EquipmentPack skips armours whose cleaned asset paths collide, as it
already does for duplicate colours, instead of letting one overwrite the
  other's model and textures.
- Layer textures are only read from inside the pack's resourcepack folder,
so a layer such as "ns:../../../secret" can't pull other files into the
  served pack.
- PackListing refuses a central directory over 2 GiB (ZIP64 stores
0xFFFFFFFF) with an IOException instead of failing plugin enable.
- /tlibs reload resynchronises worn armour, so switching equipment assets
off removes their assets straight away.

Addressed all four findings in a8ca27c: asset-path collisions are skipped like duplicate colours, layer reads are confined to the pack's resourcepack folder, central directories over 2 GiB (ZIP64) raise an IOException, and /tlibs reload resyncs worn armour. 88080c3 also makes model helmets drop a stale equipment asset (seen on TFMCDev01 with a skinned Thalendorian helmet).

PackListing scanned backwards for the record signature, so a comment that
contains those four bytes was taken for the real record and its garbage
size and offset were read. A candidate now only counts when its declared
comment length ends exactly at the end of the file.

All CodeRabbit findings are fixed in the latest commits (see the replies above). CodeRabbit's hourly review allowance is used up, so this is merged with admin rights after self-review, a full local mvn verify (coverage gate met) and an end-to-end retest on TFMCDev01 with Main's live data.
