Summary

  • Right-clicking a mark with /pickpocket start now floats a gauge ring in front of the thief before the pocket opens, modelled on level 2 of the NoPixel lockpick (hotwire): two phases (cyan, then orange) that drain while the thief mashes jump; the first phase is half length. It is the only pickpocket minigame.
  • Jump replaces the original's E, which opens the inventory without telling the server. The ring shows each player's own jump binding.
  • Fill both phases within pickpocket.minigame.time-limit-seconds (30) while the mark stays within max-distance. Failing (time, sneak, damage, logout, self-teleport) alerts the mark and puts them on lockpicking.fail-cooldown-ms for the thief. The mark leaving reach ends it without a penalty. The guild access cooldown is recorded only when the pocket opens.
  • PickpocketGame is a LockMinigame with no chest, so it shares the chest ring's hold-still, blocked hands and interrupt handling. RingView.openGauge builds the gauge (40 touching dots, phase pips, percentage, keycap) and sends only the dots that change.
  • /thievery testpick pocket plays it for staff with no mark. pickpocket.minigame.enabled: false opens pockets straight away.

Testing

  • mvn clean verify: 842 tests, 100% coverage.
  • Real 1.21.10 client in a local lab: steady, phase I, phase II, "Got it" and "Noticed" states checked by screenshot; a full run at ~7 presses/s takes about 8–15 s.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Right-clicking a mark now floats a gauge ring in front of the thief,
modelled on level 2 of the NoPixel lockpick: two phases that drain
while the thief mashes jump to fill them, the first at half length.
Filling both within pickpocket.minigame.time-limit-seconds opens the
pocket. Failing alerts the mark and puts them on the lockpick fail
cooldown; the mark leaving reach ends it quietly.

PickpocketGame shares LockMinigameManager's hold-still and interrupt
handling with the chest minigames. Staff can try it alone with
/thievery testpick pocket.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Pickpocketing now uses a two-stage ring-filling challenge: press jump to fill each phase before opening the pocket. The mark must stay nearby, and sneaking lets you give up.
    • Failed attempts alert the mark and apply a cooldown. The minigame is enabled by default, with a configurable time limit.
    • Added pocket as an option for the pickpocket test command.

Walkthrough

The pickpocket flow now starts a two-phase jump-mashing minigame before opening a pocket. The change adds a configurable timer, a floating gauge, failure alerts and cooldown handling, plus a command option for testing the minigame without a mark.

Configuration and shared minigame lifecycle

The configuration enables the minigame by default with a 30-second time limit, clamped to at least 5 seconds. The shared minigame base and manager support configurable wording, target checks, penalties, scheduling and interruption handling.
Pickpocket gauge display
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/door/RingView.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/door/RingViewTest.java
RingView builds a gauge with a 40-dot band, phase pips, instructions and readouts. Its methods update the fill, caption and pips. Tests cover display layout and updates.
Pickpocket game phases
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/door/PickpocketGame.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/door/PickpocketGameTest.java
The game waits for the thief to settle, then runs two timed phases. Jump presses add progress while progress drains over time. The game handles success, failure, cancellation, alerts and cleanup. Tests cover phases, inputs and outcomes.
Pocket selection and test command
src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/player/PickpocketManager.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/door/LockMinigameManager.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/Thievery.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/command/CommandManager.java, src/main/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/player/PickpocketVictimAlerter.java, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/player/*, src/test/java/net/tfminecraft/thievery/command/CommandManagerTest.java, README.md
Pocket selection starts the minigame and opens the pocket after its callback, subject to victim availability, distance and guild cooldown checks. The testpick pocket option starts a game without a mark. The README describes the ring interaction. Tests cover the callback flow, command and victim alert.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to e777a

A thief who teleports just after completing the ring can lose the successful attempt without opening the pocket. Fix this narrow interruption case before merging, or accept the retry risk.

A mark standing closer than the ring's 2.4 blocks hid it behind their
body. Placement now treats the mark's bounding box like a block, so the
ring comes in front of them and shrinks to look the same size.
