Description:
Integrate elevation data from the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) site into the costmap for improved terrain awareness.

Tasks:

  • Download and store fargate_utah_mdrs.las in the repository.

  • Load and parse the .las file using:

    - libLAS (C++) or laspy (Python)
    
  • Visualize elevation data (optional: cloud.usbim.com).

  • Divide site into grid regions.

  • Assign elevation-based costs to each region (e.g., higher slope = higher cost).

  • Integrate this elevation cost layer with the global costmap.

Deliverable:
Global costmap enriched with elevation-based terrain costs.
