Errors and downtime

We have a librarycard-dev mailing list set up through which developers can receive notifications about server errors and downtime.

We use Uptime Robot to monitor the production and staging websites, in addition to the proxy server. When either website is down, subscribers of the mailing list will receive an email. We track uptime by verifying a page load on the Home, Activity, and Browse pages. Failure to load any page will send an email notification; a confirmation that the page is loading again after downtime will also be sent.

The mailing list also receives notifications for any Django ERROR-level logs, and emails from OCLC System Alerts.

List membership is currently restricted to Wikipedia Library staff for data and privacy protection.
