UI Refactor Redesign

This info was pulled together from a number of tickets (which were closed in the process). The goal is to simplify, consolidate and remove friction on the various settings strewn about the app.

Here's a list of things that are being considered:

Settings Dialog

  • Provides tabs for various focus areas.
  • Consolidate many of the menu items within this dialog.
  • Kos Menu items
  • Chat menu items
  • Sound setup (with a sound picker allows tying a user selectable sound file with an event).
  • Tray icon menu items
  • Jumpbridge data
  • Regular expression triggers
  • Favorite regions to show in the region menu

Menus

  • Intel Alerts
  • Scan Intel
  • Audible Alerts
  • Activated Sound Alarm
    • Disabled, 0 Jumps, 1 Jumps, 2 Jumps, 3 Jumps
  • Region menu enumerates users chose favorite regions with an additional item for the previous region visited
  • Choose Regions... item with picker with all regions as selectable options (a checklist)
  • Auto update region on jump (select toon to follow)
  • Auto center current system (select toon to follow)
  • Window menu
  • Always on top
  • Frameless Window
  • Transparency
  • Pilots
  • Enumerate your characters
  • Cascading menu item to mute / unmute alerts for each toon

System Info Window

  • A single panel within the main window (adjacent to the intel chat panel: above / below)
  • Left clicking a system displays the system info panel containing the following:
  • Your chars there
  • System stats (kills, jumps, faction, pods)
  • Vintel state and timer same info seen within the system ellipse on the map
  • Intel mentions
  • jump bridge with planet / moon and owner
  • Set / unset character location in this system

Active Systems Window (statistics)

  • System list that can be sorted by the following keys: jumps, faction kills, ship kills, pod kills, name, mentions in intel channels.
  • Associated marking on the map to show increased activity
  • Alarms when system activity changes by a user settable percentage.
