Description:

This feature will introduce robust source management capabilities, recognizing the critical role of proper citation and referencing in academic work. The goal is to provide an intuitive and efficient way for users to manage their sources, create citations, and generate bibliographies, improving upon the user experience of existing tools.

Core Functionality:

1. Source Library:
   • Users can add, edit, and organize sources (e.g., books, articles, websites) in a dedicated library.
   • Sources can be designated as "global" (available across all documents/notes for that user) or "document-specific" (tied to a particular document).
2. In-text Citations:
   • Users can easily insert citations or references to sources from their library directly into their notes or documents.
   • The system should support common citation styles (details TBD, but flexibility is key).
3. Automated Bibliography/Reference List:
   • Axonotes will automatically generate a formatted list of all sources cited within a specific document.
   • This list should update dynamically as citations are added or removed.
4. User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX):
   • The interface for adding sources and inserting citations should be streamlined and user-friendly, aiming for a better experience than traditional word processors.

Use Cases:

• A student writing a research paper can easily add sources as they find them, cite them in their text, and have a bibliography automatically generated.
• A user can maintain a central library of frequently used sources, making them readily available for any new document without re-entering information.
