What changed

  • rewrote the root README with a source-aligned explanation of the problem ego lite solves
  • documented the implemented browser, page, Task Space, site-skill, network, and CDP capabilities
  • added macOS app, Agent Skill, and source-build installation paths
  • added real ego-browser usage and representative input/output examples
  • clarified that the open-source repository contains the ego-browser runtime and Skill, while the browser application is distributed separately

Why

The previous README focused on product positioning but did not fully document installation, usage, input/output, or the boundary between the open-source runtime and the browser application.

Impact

Users and contributors can understand what is open source, install the appropriate component, and run examples that match the current namespaced Helper API.

Validation

  • git diff --check
  • verified balanced Markdown code fences
  • verified all repository-relative README links and the banner asset exist
  • cross-checked documented Helper names against package/ego-browser/src

Full tests were not run because dependencies are not installed in the local checkout; this change only updates documentation.
