Summary

Closes the final documentation-policy slice of #51.

Decision

  • English documentation is the single authoritative source.
  • README.it.md and docs/it/ are retained as derived Italian presentation.
  • Repository decision: KEEP existing Italian documentation.
  • REGENERATE rejected: bulk regeneration would create review churn without proving semantic equivalence.
  • CONSOLIDATE rejected: removing the Italian tree would discard useful public documentation without demonstrated maintenance benefit.

Maintenance contract

  • semantic/normative changes are authored in English first;
  • Italian counterparts are updated in the same change when practical;
  • untranslated/stale Italian never blocks or overrides authoritative English;
  • conflict resolution always favors English;
  • commands, IDs, schemas, paths, numbers and machine-readable values remain unchanged unless canonical English changes them.

Audit evidence

The September 2026 audit found real drift, including stale CLI-tool counts and missing newer multi-year update behavior in README.it.md. The policy therefore explicitly classifies Italian docs as derived snapshots rather than parallel authority.

Included

  • new docs/documentation-localization-policy.md;
  • English docs index authority notice;
  • Italian docs index derived-status notice;
  • docs/localization-contract.md updated to reflect completed dynamic GiadaWare AI integration and completed documentation-policy migration.

No runtime, CLI, GUI, domain, application, or structured-data behavior changes.
