I don't understand why the resolution of this issue requires a PR. Could you elaborate?

Greeting Sir,
Since the issue was open and I thought of adding the comment in the docs that the issue is now resolved, I made a contribution by testing the link. Since, I am working with Haskell, I think I can meaningfully contribute to the organization in GSoc 2025.
I am preparing a proposal for that also.
I am trying to understand the codebase and trying to resolve other issues also.
Hope to be a part of your organization this year in GSoc 2025

My guess would be that PRs like this are more likely to hurt rather than help your chances of being accepted to GSoC.
