Things to do

  • Keep images under 100kb

Checking the pages

  • Koa11y was really helpful in testing the pages in this site on a local machine during the move the Minimal Mistakes theme
  • It's worth watching the video on its home page
  • Recommendations:
    • Use the (default) WCAG2AA standards format
    • Note that it shows the error and warning counts at the bottom of its screen, after the analysis is complete - if you get no errors, it's probably worth going on to check the next page
    • When adding new images, do go through its process of checking images and captions (explained in the video)
    • Treat any errors as critical and try hard to fix them

Possible future improvements:

  • It would be nice to have a way to run this check on all pages
    • As the number of pages on our site grows, it will take longer to past in each page URL and check it
