Connecting to WiFi

Paul Andrews edited this page Dec 14, 2024 · 7 revisions

If you install the firmware using the web-based tools, you may be able to set up the WiFi access right there. Otherwise the clock will create an access point whenever it can't connect to a network. This is also useful if you use a different method to flash the firmware or if you change the WiFi network the clock is on. BTW if you just want to change the network the clock is on, use the web site method, there is a button just for that.

Connect to the Access Point like you do any other WiFi network, the password is secretsauce. When you connect you should be taken to a captive portal where you can configure your WiFi network details (sometimes you might need to connect to the AP more than once). The AP will have a name that ends in elekstubeips (or the name of the clock model you have flashed, such as ipstube):

WiFi

The captive portal displays this page. Click on the Configure WiFi button:

Captive Portal

After clicking on the Configure WiFi button you should see a page like this that lists all of the routers/access points that you can connect to. Select yours and enter the password. You can also change the hostname (change elekstubeips to whatever you want). The Scan link will make it re-populate the list of access points:

Connection

After you have connected successfully you should see this page (the clock will also display the clock's IP address for 5 seconds):

Connected

Once you are connected to WiFi you will be able to connect to the GUI using http://<hostname>.local/, for example http://ipstube.local/
