Hello,

Since the 0.70 update, I can no longer write the € symbol (alt gr+e). I have a very basic configuration, using only FancyZones and Mouse without border.

✔️ Expected Behavior

Euro symbol when I press altr gr + e

❌ Actual Behavior

nothing happens

Can confirm the problem. Only altgr + e is not working. AltGr + Q for the @-Symbol or other combinations work fine.

Hello.
I confirm the problem while using Altgr + e, but it works well if I use the combination Altgr + 5
I'm using Italian Keyboard layout. Others key combination are working.

The issue is caused by Mouse Without Borders.
I can also repro on italian layout and MWB enabled.

As a workaround I've disabled the shortcut for toggling the easy mouse feature.

Thank you! This is it – Ctrl+Alt+E is the default shortcut for this, which conflicts with the € sign.

I was searching what was causing the issue since 2 months !!!!

I still have this problem even with 0.72

Have to re-open this because 0.72 only fixes the issue in case of a new installation, but not if upgraded from a previous version.

Reason for this: Once MWB is used and settings have changed, it seems the keyboard shortcuts get saved too.

It only works once the user resets the keyboard shortcuts within 0.72, resetting the shortcuts to using the WIN key as an additional modifier.

It's astounding that such a major bug hasn't been fixed yet. This effectively diminishes the productivity of the workspace to almost zero, which is the opposite of what PowerToys are intended to do. I was also unpleasantly surprised after the last PowerToys update that user settings were simply ignored during the upgrade.

I still have this issue. I have to turn off "Mouse Without Borders".
It's NOT my intention to uninstall and reinstall Power Toys.
Waiting for a real update.

I would like to reopen #26506. Things have improved, but this can still be considered a bug (0.87.1):

1. Out of nowhere, a key combination seems to be broken
2. The reason is hard to detect even an IT power user has difficulties to track this down to PowerToys without having to guess that this is one of its many key bindings
3. The prevention mechanism that is in place (when re-assigning keys, a warning is issued) is too late: The key is already set bad (no, this wasn't me in a prior setting, I know I wasn't interested in "easyMouse" feature of MWB).

reason is: AltGr is technically very close to left Ctrl+right Alt
AltGr+E = € is the most common conflict (reported several times already) but there is at least (for DE layout alone):
AltGr+M -> µ
AltGr+Q -> @
AltGr+2 -> ²
AltGr+3 -> ³
AltGr+7 -> {
AltGr+8 -> [
AltGr+9 -> ]
AltGr+0 -> }
AltGr+ß -> \

So similar issues might occur all over (and may be already occuring and some wonder why there ... symbol doesn't come up without making the connection to PowerToys).

Proposal for a sustainable fix:

1. Collect all potential harmful combinations, all keys above, plus those in keyboard layouts, and check that they are not set with "Ctrl+Alt+ " anywhere in PowerToys
2. Add mechanism (build step?) that prevents the use of those keys in future.
3. Apply reset-option / notification for existing bindings. IMHO not optional as many bad settings are out and people are just wondering why some key combinations are not working anymore.
