EcoCloset: Sustainable Digital Wardrobe

EcoCloset is a mission-driven web application designed to combat the environmental impact of fast fashion. By leveraging Cloudinary’s AI, the platform allows users to "shop their own closet," reducing the need for new clothing production and lowering individual carbon footprints.

The Problem

The fashion industry is responsible for significant global carbon emissions and waste. Many consumers purchase duplicate or similar items because they cannot easily see their entire wardrobe at once.

The Solution

EcoCloset turns a cluttered smartphone gallery into a professional-grade digital catalog.

• AI Background Removal: Uses Cloudinary's e_background_removal to strip away messy room backgrounds, creating clean, "flat lay" catalog images.
• Sustainability Metrics: Every item added tracks a theoretical savings of 2.5 kg of CO2, representing the average emissions avoided by choosing to reuse instead of buy new.
• Green Coding: All media is automatically optimized using Cloudinary’s f_auto and q_auto flags to reduce bandwidth usage and server energy consumption.
