Follow-up to #45 / #48 for the UNR grid viewer (scripts/).

Viewer (browse_unr_grid.html)

  • Grid / GPS sites / Both switch. Both draws grid nodes as squares and stations as circles on a shared colormap over the union of both records; per-set marker size and single-color swatches; grid nodes fade outside the grid's record.
  • Keyless basemaps (OpenFreeMap Positron / Dark Matter, OSM, Esri, Google hybrid). Basemap, projection, terrain and plates (boundaries → names → off) as icon buttons; zoom and compass top left.
  • Search box: coordinates, point ids, or place names (Nominatim, Enter only, rate-limited and cached).
  • Editable record start/end that bounds the slider and playback; arrow options shown only when vectors are on; Record and Data sections start collapsed.
  • Charts open on the point's own record. Optional least-squares fit per component: polynomial order 0–3, annual / semi-annual, Heaviside steps at typed dates (white-noise uncertainties). CSV export gains a # header with point type, id, lat/lon, reference and velocity ± σ.
  • Optional deployment note (?note= or deploy-pages.sh --note).

create-geoparquet.py: --source midas writes monthly straight-line series from UNR's IGS20 MIDAS station velocities — a light stand-in for a global GPS-sites demo. The exporter also accepts frames without sigma columns.

deploy-pages.sh: --stations FILE publishes a GPS-sites dataset; --note TEXT / --no-note control the note, which defaults to explaining the MIDAS simplification when stations are deployed; also publishes PB2002_plates.json when present.

Tested in headless Chromium (software WebGL) against the published global grid, a real California stations export (1,906 UNR stations) and the global MIDAS demo file; the fit recovers known values on a synthetic series and matches MIDAS east velocity at ISLK (−22.48 vs −22.46 mm/yr).

`--source midas` builds monthly straight-line series from UNR's IGS20
MIDAS station velocities over each station's observing span. It needs one
~5 MB table instead of every station's series, so it suits a global demo
of the viewer's GPS-sites layer. The exporter now also accepts frames
without sigma columns.

--stations FILE (default OPERA_UNR_GNSS_stations_midas.parquet when it
exists) is published beside the grid; --note TEXT / --no-note set the
note panel, which defaults to explaining the MIDAS simplification when a
stations file is deployed. Also publishes PB2002_plates.json if present.
