Safety Quotient Lab

Measuring and protecting human dignity through applied psychology, AI analysis, and open-source tools.

We build frameworks that quantify what matters — psychoemotional safety, human rights alignment, and the gap between aspiration and observable reality. Every project connects to a single axiom: dignity drives everything else.

Projects

A 10-dimension framework and DistilBERT student model for measuring psychoemotional safety climate in text. The foundational measurement layer — quantifying safety across Autonomy, Belonging, Competence, Emotional Regulation, Identity, Physical Safety, Predictability, Relational Trust, Self-Esteem, and Stress Management.

Every Hacker News story evaluated against all 30 UDHR provisions. Tracks how the tech community discusses human rights — transparency, persuasion techniques, and rights alignment measured in real time. Built on Astro + Cloudflare Workers with LLM-powered content evaluation.

Advocating for U.S. ratification of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) through the lens of AI's economic impact. Differential diagnosis, knock-on analysis, and the case that AI-driven economic transformation makes a 1966 treaty more urgent than ever.

A general-purpose psychology agent: collegial mentor with specialized sub-agents and a consensus-or-parsimony adversarial evaluator. Applies the PSQ framework through conversational AI.

The Thread

PSQ Framework → Measure dignity
Human Rights Observatory → Monitor dignity (in real-time discourse)
Unratified → Advocate for dignity (through legal frameworks)
Psychology Agent → Support dignity (through individual interaction)

Principles

  • Fair witness: observe without interpretation, distinguish observation from inference
  • E-prime: communicate without forms of "to be" — precision over assumption
  • Open source: Apache 2.0 (code) + CC BY-SA 4.0 (content)
  • Dignity as axiom: every design decision traces back to protecting and measuring human dignity

Analysis by Claude

These projects emerge through structured collaboration between human researchers and Claude (Anthropic). The methodology — differential diagnosis with consensus-or-parsimony discriminator scoring — enforces analytical rigor while acknowledging that an AI analyzing AI's own impact forms part of the intellectual honesty.

Human Rights; Nothing More, Nothing Less.
