Other than some minor stylistic changes this feature was entirely implemented by an LLM through the use of [Ampcode](https://ampcode.com/).

This PR implements stepping through diffs of commits similar to how you can do it in Github.
I saw the feature in #512 but it wasn't quite what I was looking for so I guided an LLM to implement what I wanted for me. I hope AI/LLM contributions are acceptable!
