Svelte Inspector not working Cursor IDE

Describe the bug

I'm trying to use the svelte inspect using the Cursor IDE. Below is my output when I try to inspect an element

I don't see any errors in the browser (Edge)

I started vite using pnpm dev

My svelte.config.js file has

	vitePlugin: {
		inspector: true
	}

The inspector works great it just doesn't open up the editor file.

I just tried using VS Code and Chrome browser. In that case it never acknowledged clicking on an element so it never gave the attempt to try to open the file. It does however show the selector and give the correct path to the file, just clicking isn't acknowledged.

please check https://github.com/yyx990803/launch-editor for cursor on windows support.

they recently added linux support for it but it might not have landed in vite that bundles launch-editor.

if cursor has a cli command for opening a file at a location, you can set that up with an environment variable.

@dominikg and @anatoliy-t7 . I got it working.

cursor has a goto commandline argument of -g or --goto it works like this

cursor -g filename:line:column

You can try this from the command line and it works great. I then went to launch-editor like @dominikg recommended and noticed they have an ENV variable called LAUNCH_EDITOR where you can specify cursor. This almost works. However it doesn't like svellte's folder structure for layout groups. (i.e. parenthesis (auth) ). That is likely the syntax error you are getting @anatoliy-t7 .

However, you can specify a launch.sh script that it runs instead. Here is my script that correctly launches the files I tried including layout groups

To use this I modified my package.json dev script to this

where I put the launch.sh file in the root project folder

thank you for the details. reads like it's a bug in cursor (and maybe vscode?). They should do the path escaping at point of use instead of expecting an already escaped path (quoting is enough on the caller side)

for the workaround i recommend putting the env variable in your shell rc and the script in a common place so it works in all of your projects. That also helps if others who don't use cursor work on it

Yep I'll report it to Cursor. I haven't fully tried out VS Code, would have to dust that off :)

It is not working in VSCode for more than 3 weeks. So it is not only cursor. I have tried even old setting if it will have any impact

but no success. only error msgs in Terminal "Could not open XXXXX in the editor.

any update ? same for Zod & antigravity, is it svelte , vite8 or vite-plus?
