Since

  • access on control has changed in time from mode and group relation to udev and systemd
  • ideas about moving to tagging uaccess for systemd ACL exist from a while ago on Arch as a small example
  • there are systemd updates to access control docs at #4288
  • taking notes of Linux development such as Docker for linux development #1244
  • further notes of securing usb device access as in other project's #8
  • Ubuntu has this change set for a while now

I've made ACL updates for udev on distributions that are on systemd. I suppose we can move forward with separate udev rules files, but I decided to leave it to a git branch in case it didn't pan out. After the uaccess tag ACL change in the udev file, I was able to upload my Tandem T:Slim on Ubuntu 21.10 successfully.

Further input may be needed on

  • other Linux distribution releases that use a different tag, but I believe that is limited to releases previous to Ubuntu 13.04 for example
  • have avoided systemd
  • other USB devices than Tandem T:Slim
