This document shares my core values, expectations, and management approach. My aim is to build a supportive, high performing, and creative team environment where we can all accomplish meaningful work together. What I outline here is shaped by my personal values, industry research, and insights from conversations with other managers.
-
Emphasis on Results
I care deeply about achieving clear and measurable outcomes. It's important to understand why we do what we do, so we can gauge the real impact of our actions. Simply following tradition doesn’t motivate me as much as seeing us reach tangible goals. -
Supporting Independence
I believe my team members are experts in their fields. My role is to set them up for success by giving them clear goals, sharing important context, offering ongoing support from both myself and the broader team, and making sure they have the space for focused work. I generally take a hands-off approach and am available when you need assistance. If a situation calls for it, my experience allows me to provide more direct guidance. -
Building Trust and Open Communication
I make it a priority to create a team atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable sharing ideas or raising concerns. I always try to see the best in others, assuming that disagreements usually stem from misunderstandings, not bad intentions. I encourage everyone to communicate with this same spirit it helps us stay open and positive as a group. -
Practicing Accountability
While independence and trust are essential, they need to be matched with personal responsibility. Without accountability, we risk losing momentum. Being reliable ensures we keep up our standards while maintaining a healthy and empowering work environment. -
Encouraging Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Keeping knowledge locked away leads to bottlenecks and issues for the team. I am not looking to manage every detail or centralize everything, which can create new challenges. Instead, I want for the team to work together and share what we know, because good teamwork leads to better results. -
Reducing Unnecessary Stress
I believe that frequently overworking or stressing out a team damages creativity, which is vital in our field. I support practices like regular releases and automated testing to keep our work stable and to protect time for creative work. -
Truthful, Clear, and Genuine Communication
Honesty and authenticity are very important to me. At work, it can be tricky what feels direct to one person might seem harsh to another. That’s why I recommend talking with colleagues about how they like to give and receive feedback.- How I prefer to communicate: Please be direct and factual with me, and offer suggestions on how to move forward. If you bring up a problem, come with a possible solution or be ready to brainstorm together.
- How to give me feedback: Just be straightforward, provide details, and share actionable ideas I can put into practice.

Valuing People
People are the most valuable part of a company. When team members are happy and feel supported, they produce exceptional work. This, in turn, leads to satisfied customers. -
Reinforcing Directness
I value honest, open communication without unnecessary layers. If you want to discuss something with me, just reach out. If you have a question, ask it freely. -
Following Through on Promises
I take commitments seriously. Failing to deliver without a valid reason quickly erodes my trust. That said, I understand if legitimate obstacles or delays come up. -
Embracing Everyday Leadership
Leadership is about behavior, not job titles. I am inspired by anyone who motivates or empowers others through their actions, no matter what their official role is. -
Putting Action First
Actions speak louder than words. I respect people who turn talk into measurable outcomes, since this shows real dedication and competence. -
Contributing to the Team
I admire those who are willing to help and share the load, rather than waiting for solutions to appear. Positive change only happens when we all put in the effort. -
Encouraging Self-Development
I believe engineers shape their own growth. Those who seek out learning opportunities and solve problems on their own stand out more to me than those who wait for answers to be given.
