I can manage to get this extension working with Thunderbird v68 but only after disabling and re-enabling it. The fix doesn't seem to persist either. I'm not sure what causes it but I'll occasionally have to disable and re-enable it to get the functionality back.

Also my search bar seems to be populated with 2 Expression Searches in a single box. One on the left that works, and another on the right that doesn't.

Same issues. As levinium, the enable/diable trick works for a while, but it's very frustrating.
Any help is welcome, this plugin is THE difference while having a lot of emails.

Same issue on 68.3.0 (32-bit)

Totally not working, if enable-disable, it says that is this extension is not restartless....

For the 2 boxes I have fixed by adding this in skin/overlay.css, then compiling and installing:

#expression-search-textbox > .textbox-input {
  width: 420px
}

But i'm not really sure what is happening, so i'm not formally proposing it as a fix.

Just used LatinSud fix, and it works fine.At least, one issue solved.
I don't need to compile, just rename .xpi as .zip, open and edit there the skin/overlay.css (near botton of file), repack and reinstall addon from file.

Thanks for the fix!

I have noticed that I don't have to disable/enable and restart Thunderbird in order for the add-on to work. I can just right click on my inbox and select "Open in new window". In the new window, the expression search works.

With this workaround and LatinSuD's fix for the 2 boxes, I can continue to use Thunderbird :-)

I just wanted to confirm that the fix of LatinSuD worked well for me too; i.e., adding that block after the existing #expression-search-textbox block (without replacing it). In my case, I just had to make it 450px instead to fit the box.

The best solution will be a native TB support, please add your vote here
