EGC gives every AI agent the same brain: persistent memory that remembers, understands, protects, filters, and coordinates across every session and every tool.
Version: 1.1.22 | License: Apache 2.0 | Node.js: >= 20
One install. Every tool. Persistent memory.
After npm install -g @egchq/egc && egc install, two local MCP servers run in the background and the memory protocol is injected into the global instruction files for every AI coding tool you have installed. The AI calls get_state({}) at the start of each session and update_state({...}) at the end. State lives at ~/.egc/state/, encrypted on your machine.
Around the two servers, the package also ships the Token Crusher (compresses noisy shell output before it reaches the model), the EGC Scrubber (strips AI provenance marks from content you own as it is written), and a real-time session mesh so parallel sessions announce presence, claim paths, and hand work to each other.
EGC also ships a prompt library: 61 agents, 232 skills, 77 commands, and 109 rules, written from real engineering sessions. It is optional: a bare egc install asks whether to add it (default no), and egc install --prompt-library adds it without the question.
npm install -g @egchq/egc
egc install
cd your-project
egc initegc install prepares the runtime for every detected tool; egc init, run once per project, bootstraps the memory protocol, registers the MCP servers, and verifies the setup. Without a global install:
npx @egchq/egc installFull guide: Installation
egc-memory - persistent project memory, lessons, team sync, and the session bus (24 tools)
-
get_state({})reads context at session start -
update_state({...})saves decisions at session end
egc-guardian - validation and routing layer (6 tools)
- blocks shell injection, destructive commands, and writes to credential paths
- routes every prompt against the component catalog
See MCP Servers for the full tool list.
19 tools: Claude Code, Antigravity, Cursor, Codex CLI, OpenCode, CodeBuddy, Devin Desktop, Amp, VS Code Copilot, Zed, Kiro, Trae, JetBrains Junie, Goose, OpenHands, Aider, Cline, Warp, and Qwen Code. See Supported Tools for the full tier breakdown.
